Our Team
All of our staff are highly qualified and experienced in their fields of expertise. Each of our physios treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Read on to meet our team and discover their areas of interest.
Our Physiotherapists, with the support of our massage therapists and physiotherapy aides, provide a hands on approach to your treatment, offering a variety of methods and manipulations to ease away those aches and pains. Each staff member consistently up skills their knowledge and qualifications through training, in-services and courses.
Niamh – Physiotherapist
Niamh completed her Masters of Physiotherapy in 2008. Prior to this, she studied a Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science in Limerick, Ireland. She has been with us at Edgeworth since 2011. She loves working in our team and her passions include Women’s Health, including incontinence and post pregnancy rehabilitation, as well as working with children (paediatric physiotherapy). Niamh works part time, so book ahead to avoid missing out. Please note that Niamh is only available via phone bookings as she is not on our online booking system.
Dani – Physiotherapist (She/Her)
Dani treats our dancers, polers, aerialists and other performing artists. From 2023 her role is primarily Performing Arts Physiotherapy and exercise based rehabilitation. Dani has a special interest in Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders, including Ehlers Danlos Syndromes. She has completed a plethora of dance, aerials and hypermobility related courses to better serve her clients, and also designs and presents workshops for dancers, polers, and instructors/teachers.
Dani has been pole dancing for over 10 years and taught for most of that time. She also has experience in ballet, partner acrobatics, aerials (lyra and silks), gymnastics and contortion. Her passion is working to keep performing artists in class and on the stage, which requires detailed assessment and expert knowledge.
Dani works part-time and her appointments are made by phone and email only (not on our online booking system). Studios and teachers, Dani can also attend your studio for workshops, treatment days, and ongoing education for teachers. Dani’s books are currently closed to new clients. Dani recommends seeing Nikki or Amada for all hypermobility and EDS needs. Please call or email for further info.
Maddy – Physiotherapist
Maddy relocated to Newcastle from the nation’s capital where she completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2018 at the University of Canberra. Since graduating, she has worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist within the clinic and on the sporting field, where she has gained experience treating a range of acute injuries with several sports teams including soccer, rugby, AFL and softball. She has a keen interest in treating both shoulder and knee injuries in all age groups. Maddy also has additional training in clinical Pilates and vestibular physiotherapy, allowing her to provide comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation for dizziness, balance disorders and BPPV.
She utilises her knowledge as a qualified strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer to deliver a treatment plan that is both individualised and preventative in nature.
Connor – Physiotherapist
Since beginning my physiotherapy career in 2021, I’ve developed a strong foundation in exercise-based rehabilitation, hands-on therapies, and patient-centered care. I’ve expanded my clinical skills through roles as a senior clinician in the UK, working across a variety of settings including private practice, orthopedics, and multidisciplinary teams. My interests include strength and conditioning particularly in runners.
Rory – Physiotherapist
Rory joined our team after completing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Newcastle University in 2023. Since graduating, he has developed extensive experience in sports injury rehabilitation, working across a range of athletic disciplines. Rory has provided physiotherapy support to local AFL, soccer, rugby, and touch football teams, building a solid foundation in managing injuries specific to each sport.
In addition to his work with field sports, Rory brings valuable expertise from the combat sports arena. He has worked with athletes in mixed martial arts, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, and karate, giving him a deep understanding of the physical demands and injury patterns unique to these disciplines.
Whether you’re a hobbyist, amateur, or professional athlete, Rory is dedicated to helping you return to play as quickly and safely as possible. He tailors his rehabilitation programs to the specific needs of your sport, with a strong focus on injury prevention to support long-term performance and wellbeing.
Georgia – Physiotherapist (TMJ)
I am a 2023 graduate from the University of Newcastle, who joined our team through the Edgeworth Physiotherapy New Graduate Program 2024. As a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, I have developed a particular passion for managing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and related conditions. My clinical interests include jaw pain which can present as difficulty with chewing or jaw movement, clicking or instability of the TMJ, as well as associated neck pain and headaches. I am especially enthusiastic about helping patients better understand the connection between jaw and neck function, and how these areas contribute to overall musculoskeletal health. I am committed to creating a welcoming and educational environment for my patients. I believe that empowering individuals with a clear understanding of their condition plays a vital role in both short- and long-term recovery. My treatment sessions will typically include hands-on manual therapy to address pain and restriction, along with a tailored home exercise program designed to support long-term management.
Portia – Physiotherapist
I’m a Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist with advanced training in supporting people with prolapse, pelvic pain, sexual pain and dysfunction, as well as bladder and bowel concerns. I’ve worked with a wide range of patients — women, men, and gender diverse individuals — and I’m passionate about providing high-quality, trauma-informed care that respects each person’s unique journey.
I’m currently completing a Master of Physiotherapy (Pelvic Health) at the University of Melbourne, and I’m committed to offering the most up-to-date, evidence-based support available.
What matters most to me is getting to know you. I take the time to really listen, understand your story, and work alongside you to reach your goals. I believe in empowering people through a mix of hands-on treatment, education, and tailored exercise — helping you build the confidence and tools to manage your health for the long term.
When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll likely find me swimming, pottering in the garden, or enjoying time with my husband, loved ones, and our furry companions.

Irene – Physiotherapist
Irene is a dedicated physiotherapist with a strong passion for helping people move better, feel stronger, and live with less pain. With experience in community and clinical settings, she takes a patient-centred approach to care, combining hands-on treatment with tailored exercise programs to achieve meaningful, lasting results. She is committed to delivering evidence-based treatment that supports each individual’s goals—whether that’s improving mobility or enhancing everyday function.
Outside of the clinic, Irene enjoys spending time with her partner and playing badminton.
Amanda – Physiotherapist
Mandy completed her physiotherapy degree at the University of Canberra and graduated in 2016. Since this time, she spent a number of years working in a Canberra private practice that had a strong focus on treating patients with chronic conditions. This is where she developed her interest in persistent pain and has since completed a Certificate in Pain Science through the University of South Australia. Mandy has a keen interest in treating acute and chronic lower back pain; chronic hip and shoulder pain; as well as hypermobility disorders and running related injuries. She places a strong emphasis on listening to your story and working with you to create meaningful change and getting you back to what is important. Outside of work Mandy likes to stay active whether that is going for a run, riding her bike or lifting weights at the gym.
Amanda’s books are currently closed as she is on indefinite leave. We appreciate your understanding and will provide an update regarding her return to Edgeworth Physiotherapy as able. In the meantime, our team remains available to assist with your physiotherapy needs.
Jason – Physiotherapist
Jason is a motivated new graduate with hands-on experience in musculoskeletal assessment, manual therapy, exercise prescription, and patient communication. Jason is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care in private practice, with a focus on musculoskeletal injuries, sports conditions, and neurological presentations. Jason speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys photography, fishing and cooking, making the most of his time outdoors and in the kitchen.
Lennon – Physiotherapist
A 2025 graduate from the University of Newcastle, Lennon combines his grounded knowledge in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, exercise prescription, and patient education to deliver personalised, evidence-based care. Alongside completing his degree, he also taught anatomy at the university, helping develop strong communication and clinical education skills. Lennon is passionate about improving his patient’s quality of life and aims to create meaningful improvements in daily function and wellbeing with every treatment. Lennon speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Outside of the clinic, you’ll usually find Lennon at the gym, spending time with his partner or in the kitchen, where he enjoys trying out new recipes.
Lance – Exercise Physiologist
Lance is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. He completed a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology at the University of New South Wales.
Lance has experience in exercise oncology, helping cancer patients manage their treatment side effects, improving their strength, function and overall quality of life. Lately, he has developed a strong interest in exercise interventions for individuals with type 2 diabetes. He runs two diabetes exercise classes a week, creating targeted programs.
Jess – Massage Therapist
Jessica has a strong passion in women’s health and sports injury prevention. She has undertaken extra training in Pregnancy Massage, Hot & Cold Stone Therapy, Sinus Drainage and Sports Training.
Jess has a personal passion for pregnancy massage, as she feels that mums-to-be are some of the most deserving massage clients.
Her style is tailored to each client’s needs but will always address both mental and physical components to calm the body and mind leaving the client feeling refreshed.
Char – Owner, Operator
Char has been running physiotherapy practices for the 15+ years in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie area. She opened our Edgeworth Practice in 2010. Char is multi-skilled, working in the office, doing our company administration and occasionally also doing hands on treatment with the physios. She has a Diploma of Massage Therapy and a Cert IV in Allied Health Services. Her thorough massage techniques and organisational skills are a force to be reckoned with.
Karen – Practice Manager And Receptionist
Karen is our chief organiser. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. If you have any questions about Medicare, insurance claims, classes or appointments, Karen is sure to have the answers. She can make your experience at Edgeworth Physio smooth and stress free- and she keeps the rest of us on track as well!
Nicole – Receptionist / Events Co-ordinator
Nicole joined the team in 2022 and is a multi-tasking queen. Working on reception, keeping the physio’s and therapist in line and on track. Nicole is also the person behind our wonderful community events and nights. You’ll always see her around busily working in one role or another! If you have any suggestions for her about an event, please reach out so she can help make it a reality with us!
Chris – Receptionist
Chris is our receptionist here at Edgeworth Physiotherapy. She is one of the first friendly faces you’ll see when you arrive, and is here to help make your visit as easy and comfortable as possible.
With a passion for customer care and a genuine interest in helping people feel supported, Chris can assist you with bookings, answering questions, managing payments, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
