Niamh
I am a pelvic floor physiotherapist at Edgeworth Physiotherapy. I have been treating patients at Edgeworth Physiotherapy for over 14 years now, with a transition into pelvic floor physiotherapy over the last 9 years. I have 3 children, and try play hockey and basketball when I can.
The main issues I assess and treat with regards to pelvic health is urinary and faecal incontinence, urinary and faecal urgency, prolapse, sexual pain, constipation, pelvic girdle pain, and diastasis recti. I love working with pregnant and post partum women in their journey, whether its supporting their pain free pregnancy or their recovery post partum.
A full comprehensive subjective and objective assessment is completed to determine the best treatment plan for the patient. I am trained and experienced in vaginal and rectal examinations. I can complete a pelvic floor internal assessment to determine tightness, weakness, pain, loading patterns, prolapse etc, while also completing an external assessment to check for imbalance of glutes, adductors, obturator internus to create a more holistic review of overall dysfunction and balance. I aim to stay up to date with research to therefore provide my patients with the most relevant treatment for them with what life stage they are at.
I aim to create a welcoming space for women to come and talk about what is happening and how they can gain control over some of their issues.
If you have any questions with regards the service I offer or a patient that I am seeing, please ring the clinic and ask for me.
